Well this article alone is one thing that makes me want to read more! Embarrassingly, I've just finished my first book of the year - "The Other Boleyn Girl" - and truly enjoyed having something to look forward to every night. I won't let this good feeling pass, promise! Next up: Kristin gave me "The Glass Castle". Or are there other books I need to read immediately?

I agree with your review wholeheartedly. It will change the way you look at paintings, sculpture, Rome and Florence and maybe the rest of Italy. It is wonderful if you can read it before visiting Itlay. I read the book at least 20 years ago, and still have strong and lasting memories of Michaelangelo and his works. I also enjoyed Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth to understand and appreciate Cathedral stonebuilding. He has just published a sequel to this book, which I will read soon.

I am in the middle of this book and am loving it! It's long but every chapter brings something completely different and unexpected - it's all building up to his true masterpieces.

Hi Katie, I'm Lucy's tennis friend in Atlanta. I am a fellow book lover (and pediatrician). I still haven't gotten around to reading The Red Tent, but will do so on your recommendation and many others. Just picked up Run, Thousand Splendid.....and Emperor's Children to read after I finish Suite Francaise, which I am enjoying. I'm going to send your link on to my son's (age 23) girlfriend who was an English major and works for the SF Chronicle. Can't wait until I have more time to look at your website.
Sneaky! I discovered your blog by accident when I was noticing that we were getting hits from it :)

You're slacking! What have you read lately?

I just finished reading the entire Harry Potter series that I never took the time to read, before. Loved it!

Now I'm reading a parenting book :)

Hope you guys are doing well!

Well I'm aiming to buck this trend! I've finished the first book you've given me - The Kite Runner - and in a mad dash to finish it, read over 250 pages last night! I forgot how much I truly LOVE reading and I'm excited to get back to my old, sometimes reclusive, book reading ways. :) THANKS!

To all that I may have offended - I apologize, while a Harry Potter / Jack Reacher duel would be awesome, I didn't mean to compare the two series as they are crazy different. However - I think Harry would still win just because he's a wizard and all. Big guns can only get you so far.

I LOVE JACK REACHER. I'm taking my time on the series too because I don't want to catch up too early and then get in the waiting stages like Harry Potter...
