It will change the way you look at paintings, sculpture, Rome and Florence and maybe the rest of Italy. It is wonderful if you can read it before visiting Itlay. I read the book at least 20 years ago, and still have strong and lasting memories of Michaelangelo and his works. I also enjoyed Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth to understand and appreciate Cathedral stonebuilding. He has just published a sequel to this book, which I will read soon.
